The common feature of the armchair and the lamps Arno designed for Natevo is the use of leather in the manufacture – processed with a modern-day version of the tanning typical of the ancient Florentine traditions. The River Arno runs through the city of Florence, hence the collection’s name. In Medieval times, the hides were left to soak and soften in the river before the tanning procedures continued. I wanted to combine tradition and modernity with a contemporary language that would reflect the connections to the past.
